Who can use FarAway

You must be 18 or older, or older still if your country's minimum age is higher (see our Privacy Policy). One account per person. You are responsible for what happens on your account.

Community guidelines

FarAway connects strangers. That only works if it is safe. These are the rules we enforce, and breaking them can get your account suspended without warning:

• No sexual content involving minors. Ever. We report it to the relevant authorities.
• No harassment. No threats, hate, or contacting someone who has blocked you.
• No unsolicited sexual images. Sending explicit photos to someone who did not ask is grounds for removal.
• No impersonation. Do not pretend to be someone else, and do not use photos that are not of you.
• No spam, scams, or solicitation. Including advertising, recruiting, and requests for money.
• Keep the Lounge on FarAway. No links, social handles or phone numbers in posts and replies, and nothing that tells people where you are staying or when you will be alone.
• No illegal activity. Anything against the law stays off FarAway.

Reporting and enforcement

You can report or block anyone from a conversation. Blocking stops them reaching you and stops you being matched again. Reports are reviewed by a human. When someone is reported, the photos and disappearing messages in their conversations with the person who reported them are kept past their normal deletion until the report is decided, so there is something to review.

Enough independent reports against one account will suspend it automatically, pending review. We may also suspend an account directly.

In the Lounge, any post or reply can be reported from its menu. One reported by several different people is hidden until a moderator decides whether it stays. Reports in the Lounge never suspend anyone automatically; a moderator may, if what they wrote breaks these rules.

Anyone, with or without an account, can report illegal content on our report page.

Your content

What you post stays yours. You give us permission to store and show it to the people you send it to, and what you write in the Lounge to everyone on FarAway, which is what makes the app work. Lounge posts and replies are deleted 90 days after you write them, or when you delete them. Photos shared in chat are deleted automatically after 24 hours, unless a report needs them as evidence (see Reporting and enforcement).

Copyright

Only post photos and other material you have the right to share. If you believe something on FarAway infringes your copyright, use our report page, or email a notice to support@flyfaraway.app. The notice must include:

• your physical or electronic signature, as the owner or someone authorised to act for them;
• the copyrighted work you say is infringed;
• the material you say infringes it, and enough to find it on FarAway, such as the username that posted it and what it shows;
• your name, postal address, phone number and email;
• a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent, or the law;
• a statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorised to act for them.

We remove or disable the material and tell whoever posted it. If you posted it and believe it was removed by mistake, email us a counter-notice: your signature; what was removed and where it was; a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification; and your name, address and phone number, with your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your address (or, outside the United States, any judicial district where FarAway may be found) and to accept service from the person who complained. We pass it on, and put the material back in 10 to 14 business days unless they tell us they have gone to court.

Paid features

Subscriptions and one-off purchases are billed by Google Play, and Play's refund policy applies. Subscriptions renew until cancelled; cancel in Google Play. A subscription may start with a free trial, offered once per Google account: it becomes a paid subscription when the trial ends unless you cancel before then, and the app says when that is and what it will cost before you start. We may change prices, and will say so before a change affects you.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Settings, or on the account deletion page. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms.

The app is provided as it is

We do not promise the app will always be available or free of faults, and we do not screen the people you meet on it.

Changes

If we change these terms materially, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
